Magazine front covers

L.O. to identify the features on a magazine front cover, to explore genre codes & conventions

Masthead - the name of the magazine. it goes at the top

Dateline - the bit that says the date when the magazine was reported, near either the masthead or the  barcode

Main image - the picture on the front of the magazine, in the middle

Cover lines - the writing around the main image that tells the reader what is inside the magazine, along  the sides

Main cover line -  line of text on the front cover describing and promoting the content, middle on the      sides, links to the main image 

Bar code / price - to scan when buying the magazine, bottom corner 

Tagline / Strapline - a memorable phrase, summing us the magazine and its content, like a slogan, near the masthead somewhere

Pull quote - text that is pulled from the text, to draw attention
