L.O. To explore the concept of film genre

a style especially in the arts that involves a particular set of characteristics.

Hybrid = mixture of two or more genres.

sub-grenre = categories that a genre can be divided into

Romance

love actually, bridget jones, mamma mia, dirty dancing, love rosie, beauty and the beast, grease, about time,

sub-genres: comedy, musical, drama, christmas

romance genre conventions- happy ending, two protagonists/ main characters, extreme highs and lows, red+white colour palette, sometimes struggle to make a relationship work, usually a boy and a girl fall in love, red/white title, usually two people (the people who fall in love) on romantic poster,

Examples of famous romance film directors could be Christian Ditter, Richard Curtis, Nancy Meyers - they have directed films such as love actually, the holiday, love rosie, about time, how to be single and more.

Hugh Grant, Julia Roberts, Colin Firth, Sandra Bullok, Lily Collins, Reese Witherspoon and Paul Rudd are all associated with the romance genre after starring in many romantic films.

All of these film posers all follow a lot of the romance genre conventions, such as:

red/ white title, both protagonists/ people that fall in love on the cover, colour palette of red and white, boy and girl.

Film Trailers

In this film is about four very different teenagers who aren't friends but all get stuck in a video game together. They have to complete a series of levels to get out of the jungle they are stuck in. The genre for this film is comedy/action, well represented in the trailer with a lot of dramatic scenes, emphasised with dramatic music and joke scenes included. In this film, there is lots of obstacles for the four characters to overcome while they are stuck in the jungle and various different locations, before they can go home, making it an exciting, frustrating, funny watch. They have made it an entising trailer by featuring these highs and lows of the film.

This is the main protagonist, Spencer Gilpin/Dr Smolder Bravestone. In the video game, he is stuck in the body of Dr Bravestone who is ironically the complete opposite of him in real life. In real life he is a skinny, pale, awkward teenage boy but in the video game he is stuck as a strong, masculine, brave man.
